REMEMBERING CHRISTMAS

It's difficult to know which to showcase first as there are so many choices  in the new Autumn/Winter catalogue!  I chose this one called "Remembering Christmas" as it is probably one that challenges one's creative juices.

In the following weeks, I'll post a sample from the stamps I have and then revisit with the full series from each stamp set, just to give you a taster.

Pop back for my Sunday share tomorrow.

Autumn Winter catalogue live now!

Exciting news today!  Have you noticed that there was not much by way of christmas or holiday stamps in our 2013-14 Annual Catalogue?  Well, here's the reason why....they're all here in our Seasonal Catalogue!

It has a new layout packed full of yummy ideas on what to do with the products in the first 17 pages.  You'll also notice cross reference numbers to the relevant pages where the products can be found.  Stampin' Up! have done it this way so that they can show you more ideas specifically shown on those pages 1-17, rather than try and squeeze them in with the stamps which will restrict what they can show.  You can see it  here.

Love & Laughter

Welcome to my blog.  It's a Bank Holiday so I hope you're enjoying the extra day off!  Here's a quick and simple card in gold embossing powder on shimmery white card stock which I made for my friend's niece who is getting married in September.

The alphabet has been retired as well as the gold elastic - but I'm a hoarder and some things like the alphabets and ribbons I won't give up!  Am I glad I hung on to them - I knew they'd come in useful one day!

My club ladies are having a preview of the Autumn/Winter Catalogue  tomorrow as it is about to go live on 29 August - so there's no rest for me today as I'm still busy designing and prepping for the preview tomorrow evening!

TTFN!

Backyard Basics and a Sneak Peek

This set has been sitting on the shelf, neglected and unloved waiting for the opportunity to see some ink! My brother-in-law recently had a birthday and he loves his garden, so it was now or never!  There are a couple of sneak peeks in here too - as the new Autumn/Winter catty launches on 29 August!  Can you spot them?

Here's the inside.  Cardstock and ink used were Sahara Sand, Rich Razzleberry and stamped on Whisper White.   I used Old Olive, Perfect Plum, Rich Razzleberry and Elegant Eggplant markers to do the colouring and blending.

Pop back onWednesday for the next video tutorial.

Thanks for stopping by.

Wildflower Meadow #5 & #6

Hiya!  Back again with more Wildflower Meadow - see, I told you there's loads of ways you can use this one stamp!  I dry embossed with the coordinating TIEF (textured impressions embossing folder) inked the portion I wanted with Melon Mambo, Crumb Cake, Wild Wasabi markers, lightly spritzed it with water and stamped on watercolour paper.

Stampin' Up! has added a Circles Collection framelits which I used to cut and frame.  I used washi tape and tore a strip of Whisper White cardstock to stamp "friend" on.

Here's another card which finally completes the Wildflower Meadow series - say it with Washi!

A square 5" card.  The layers starting from the inside out, Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy and Pool Party.

I'm loving the Washi Tape - so many possibilities.  Sign up for my "Say it with Washi" class on 28th September - click on classes in the nav bar at the top of my blog for more information on other classes too.

You can choose to do 1, 2 or even 3 classes on the same day!

Pop back soon for a sneak peek - the new Autumn/Winter catalogue launches on 29 August!  I'm having a preview on 27th August and am based in Fleet, Hampshire.  If you are local and would like to come, email me elaine.harding@googlemail.com for more details.

Wildflower Meadow #4

A really quick post today - back again with yet another sample for Wildflower Meadow and its co-ordinating embossing folder.  I stamped in Pistachio Pudding, then embossed it.  On a piece of scrap, I stamped again in Crisp Cantaloupe and just cut out the flowers to adhere to the embossed image.

The label is from a Hostess Set.

Pop back with Wednesday's Workshop Wow later this week.

Timeless Talk, Tape It

A card for my grandson who has just hit the teens!   I didn't have anything in my stash that I could think of which would appeal to that age group but I figured they would talk on the phone alot...................

go figure.... so I thought I'd go the vintage route.  Done in Bermuda Bay in monotone with Tape It Stamp set which links the old with the new, don't you think?

Hope he liked it!

Wildflower Meadow #3

Good day, as the Aussies say, I'm back with more on this background stamp.  You can use elements of it and not the whole background.

Using Designer Series Papers (DSP for short) on a card is a great way of using up scraps.  I just picked out the colours in the DSP  and used Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo and Pear Pizzazz markers to ink the stamp. I also inked the whole stamp in Daffodil Delight and stamped on Whisper White scrap so I could cut out the corresponding flower to pop on the card to add extra dimension.  I used the Adorning Accents Edgelits for my Island Indigo layer - with the new magnetic platform, it's a doddle!

The greeting is from Really Good Greetings - page 38 of the current Annual Catalogue.  I added some punched itty bitty flowers to complete the card.

VIDEO - #2 WEDNESDAY'S WORKSHOP WOW Origami Gift Box

Hi! Welcome to the second episode of Wednesday's Workshop Wow.  Today's video tutorial is how to make a gift box out of one sheet of 12" x 12" DSP that doesn't require any glue (except for the belly band).

This project has been devised especially for Leigh who was my lovely hostess recently.  She used her Hostess Rewards to get herself Stampin' Up!'s Simply Scored scoring board.  I thought it would be nice to do a video on a project  so she could use her board to make a nice no-glue, no-fuss gift box.  The only glue needed is to secure the belly band which wraps around the box to keep it closed.

For ease of reference here are the score lines again - 1-1/2", 3", 3-3/4", 8-1/4", 9" and 10-1/2".
Rotate the DSP 90 then score at 3", 4-1/2", 7-1/2" and 9".    Below there is a video tutorial on how to make the box.  I made a blooper and said that one of the score lines was 3-1/4" - it is not, the correct measurement is 3-3/4".

Your belly band should be cut from an A4 strip of 1 -1/2" x 11"  card stock.  Just fold it round the box and pinch the folds.  Remember not to wrap it too tightly round the box, or it will be difficult to slip the belly band on and off.

The papers I used were from the In Color Designer Series Paper Stacks with new patterns.  Aren't they delicious?
All materials used are Stampin' Up! products unless otherwise stated.

You will be able to purchase all Stampin' Up! supplies from my Online store here.  Click on the SHOP button to bring you to the Online Store page, create an a/c, ensure that my name, Elaine Harding, appears in the top right hand corner and the top of the page looks like this

Crazy Mixed-Up Love!

I can't believe that it's 10 years since my baby girl's wedding day!  She and her husband celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary and I couldn't resist using this Crazy Mixed-Up Love stamp set - the greeting actually says "we blend well", but I needed it to say "you" and not "we", so I used a marker and inked a "you" from another sentiment and cut that out and adhered it over the "we".

As a background, I used "Off the Grid" stamped in versamark then silver embossed and finished with a pair of punched hearts and some rhinestones.

The inside of the card was stamped with Memorable Moments in Smoky Slate - I've been using this stamp set such a lot recently! A busy time of year for birthdays, anniversaries and such for our family!

Wildflower Meadow #2

You can ink and emboss a selected portion of the background stamp to give this a complete makeover.   I used versamark ink to stamp the image, silver embossed it with a heat tool,  then dry embossed it with the coordinating embossing folder.  I die cut the stamped image with Windows Framelits collection and a larger mat in Island Indigo, and used the piercing guide to add pierced details around the frames.

The sentiment was taken from one of the Hostess sets called Morning Meadows and one of the images in this set also coordinates with the new Pansy Punch on page 183.

Wildflower Meadow #1

This stamp is classified as a background stamp, however, in my humble opinion, I think it's too busy to be in the background - it kind of wants to shout from the roof top!   Looking at the stamp, you're probably scratching your head and wondering what else could you possibly use it for!  In the next few posts I'll show you different ways in which to get more mileage out of this one stamp!    The obvious one is to stamp the image on Whisper White card stock, then emboss with its coordinating stamp set.

It's on page 83 of the new Annual Catalogue.  The true size of the stamp has been magnified in the circle so you can see it at 100% in the "magnifying" circle.

This card is made in Bermuda Bay - the stamp set co-ordinates with an embossing folder and you can buy both the stamp set and the background stamp as a bundle making a saving of 15% off the RRP.
