Countdown to Christmas 2015 #Wk3 - Festive Fireplace Easel Card

This week we're looking at the Festive Fireplace Bundle which comprises a stamp set and the coordinating set of Framelits.  It shouted out I need to put an LED light behind there to make it glow.

Spot my blooper - but I didn't edit it out and I didn't really want to re-film it, so here it  is - warts and all!  Hope you still enjoy the process and laugh with me rather than at me (rolls eyes and whistles)!

Sunday Bonus Video - Glittery Woodland

Morning all!  I have a bonus video for you this Sunday.  So many of you have asked about how to lay down ink between the Birch trees in the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF) I thought it would be easier to give you a visual.

Do you have a lot of christmas cards to send abroad?  Well here's a solution......make 'em smaller, so they won't cost so much to post!  To glitter, or not to glitter?  If you don't want to glitter, then simply ink up the TIEF with your classic ink pad colour and omit the Versamark bit.

So how are you spending your Sunday?  I have to be up at the crack of dawn for the VirginMedia engineer to call and fix our set-top box.  It's been literally blinking on and off making viewing impossible!

My car's been on the blink too - and needed a new battery - can't complain though, as she was firing on all cylinders on her original battery eversince we bought her new 10 years ago!  Relieved to know that because of her age,  she couldn't possibly have been a part of this diesel emissions fixing scandal!

2015 Countdown to Christmas #Wk2 - Votive

I looked at the Hearth & Home Framelit and wondered what else I could do with it other than as a window frame.  Did you ever imagine that the Hearth & Home Framelit would end up as a votive - or lantern?  Put an LED tea light in it and it gives such a pretty glow!

Enjoy the video - it is in two parts.  Part 1 shows box construction and Part 2 shows you a cool technique for the pointsettias.  I hope it will inspire you to make one too!

A Special Birthday

Do you have trouble making masculine cards?  I'm a firm believer that sometimes less is more - but first a little background on where the inspiration for this card came about.

We've been watching a TV series called "This Wild Life" which documents the trials and tribulations of running a safari camp that the wildlife expert and environmentalist, Saba Douglas-Hamilton faces on a daily basis.  She and her husband Frank, a conservationist, and their three children moved to the romantic Samburu National Reserve where she runs a tented luxury campsite and scenes of the animals in the wild in their natural habitat re-kindled our desire to go on safari one day.

My hubby spent a stint with the VSO in Zambia not long after he graduated as a Civil Engineer, and had the opportunity to holiday in Tanzania and Kenya.  He's stayed at Treetops, visited Ngorongoro and been to the Serengeti Plains. Whilst out there, he always said he had the highest quality of life there before he acquired a wife and family!  He has hankered going back one day so I  could experience first hand the wonders of an African Safari too.

On further investigation, I gasped at just how expensive safari trips are, particularly if they're tailor made for your enjoyment!  He's just had a special birthday and he can hang up his work hat -  so I made him this card. Stampin' Up!'s Go Wild Designer Paper series stack had this giraffe pattern and fitted the brief.  A simple "Man" card, no extras - no buttons, bows or frills, just some simple stamping and....

.....sadly,  this is the closest he's going to get to go on safari for the time being ;-) !  Another destination  to put on our bucket list!

Here's the inside - I used the Alphabet rotary stamp to customise my sentiments.  A one layer card without any frills.  The Happy Birthday Everyone stamp set is a hostess set and you can only obtain it through Hostess credits which you can earn through hosting a party.

FYI the list of products are listed below - the pictures are all directly linked to my online store.

Happy Sunday!

2015 Countown to Christmas #Wk1 - Wreath

I'm so excited to be starting my Countdown to Christmas video series.  Twelve projects to help you personalise your christmas ranging from cards to home decor and gift packaging with one or two quirky twists to hopefully inspire you.  There are also some time saving tips especially if you're making cards in bulk!

My first is a wreath.  Stampin' Up! has made this project kit  so that it's not just for christmas.  By changing the banner you can use it for Autumn or Halloween and although it did not include one for spring, it's easy enough to make by using the floral dies or punches in Stampin' Up!'s arsenal of tools.

Winter Wishes so soon?

I know, I know..... some of you might think this is WAY too early for Christmas - but I thought I'd give you a heads up this Sunday to let you know that my 12 weeks of Countdown to Christmas video tutorial series start next Wednesday.  We all get maniacally busy come December, so I've timed the 12 weekly christmas themed projects to finish in the first week of December.  We can all feel smug that we've finished our Christmas prep ahead of time, can't we?   So on with today's card.

Loving this "Winter Wishes" stamp set and I really hope you do too!  This was the second card my Card Club ladies made using that same mirror technique to get the skates to face in the opposite direction.  For class, I just  inked the "Hardwood" background stamp in Chocolate Chip and stamped on Chocolate Chip card stock then cut them into strips for everyone to save time.

The card front was embossed with  the brick wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (TIEF) as a backdrop and the wooden plank was attached with dimensionals.

They stamped on the inside of the card too.

Both the Wood Mount and Clear Mount Stamps are listed for ease of reference and they all link directly to my online store should you wish to make a purchase (for the European market only).

Weather forecast in Fleet is rain, and more rain - so I hope it's sunnier where you are!

Happy stampin'

Stampin' Up!'s live stream event for Demos showied us how to double the size by joining two boxes, but I wanted to lengthen the size in one piece so thought you might like to know how I did mine. Enjoy.  It's a tad longer than usual, so grab your favourite cuppa.  Here goes...........
