Happy Halloween!

Just a quick card (from my personal collection) to wish everyone a Happy Halloween.  I've used the new glimmer brads and the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes on page 86 of the Main Idea Book & Catalogue.  The background is the jumbo "Texture" wheel inked in Old Olive.

It's been rather quiet on my blog - as with house guests I just haven't had the time to devote to keeping it updated nor the time to create or photograph anything!

I hope you haven't deserted me altogether for lack of content!  TTFN - Happy Halloween!

Easy Events

Oh dear, has it really been that long since I last posted? My family are visiting from abroad and I seem to be chasing my tail, barely having sufficient time to keep up with my SU committments let alone blog so sadly that has taken a back seat. It was my own team quarterly meeting yesterday and I'm snatching a few minutes today before the rest of the UK clan descends on us later today - dinner for 17 tonight at the last head count and another 4 bodies sleeping over as it's half term!  Anyhow, I digress, so back to crafting.

Needless to say, I haven't had much time to create new stuff, so I'm drawing on the stash of samples I'd made  for my Hostess event some time ago.  This is from the "Easy Events" set - a floral image, one of eight stamps with a greeting underneath "thank you" which I stamped separately and punched out with a word window punch.

It practically covers every occasion - from birthdays, babies, thank yous, weddings, christmas and even a belated greeting!  You'll find it on page 43 of the Main Idea Book & Catalogue.

Don't you just love our new Lace Ribbon Border punch?   I threaded 1/8"  taffeta ribbon through it and popped some rhinestones over the centre of the flowers and am loving the effect.   I punched a 1 3/4" circle in Pretty in Pink and layered it underneath the scallop circle just to make it pop too.

Hope you like it.

Halloween Vignettes

Way back in September I made a Halloween "lollie" wreath as part of my pre-launch catalogue event for my Hostesses.  I haven't had the opportunity to blog it till now.

Having seen my Halloween project, some of the ladies asked if I would do a class on how to make it.  I had to completely change the content of the original Halloween class I had scheduled and they all did this instead so I couldn't publish anything till after the class.

As this was a pre-launch item, I had to use products which were current then, but retired now and because it was for display purposes, I'd used some non-SU products.  This was what they did at class.  Needless to say it was rather ambitious to finish it all within the 2 hour session, so having learnt the concept of how to make the lollies, they had to take it home to complete the ensemble.

SU eventally found my missing parcel - it had mistakenly gone on holiday with DHL - driver wasn't paying due attention that my parcel wasn't his to pick up and eventually returned it to SU and it was finally despatched by UPS so it arrived in the nick of time for my class - talk about cutting it fine!  I was having kittens.

Earlier today, we had the Inspiring Inkin' Team Quarterly meeting led by Amanda, and new for this quarter, there is a Demonstrator's Choice table where Demonstrators bring something they've made to showcase and all the Demonstrator's vote on which one they like best.

Here is my entry - a second Halloween Vignette with the new products, antique brads, and the new Bigz Simple Alphabets dies.  Much to my surprise, it was voted as runner-up so it was worth staying up until 2 a.m. Friday night to finish it.

My sister and her husband arrive tomorrow evening - so I can procrastinate no more - I really have to clear the back bedroom and make up the beds before we go pick them up and whip through the entire house.   Aargh - how I hate housework.

By the way, which do you prefer - the first one or my second attempt?

Forever Young from Lydia

I love this card - which arrived early this week but I haven't had time to show it off till now - it's way past  my bedtime but I must blog it before I make my way to bed - (just putting the  finishing touches to a class I've got tomorrow night and I know sleep will elude me unless I have it done and dusted).    The vintage embossing folder is just stunning, don't you think and I love the extra ribbon she's put in her bow.  I love the colour combo too.

Thank you Lydia - check out her blog here on how she made it.

Forever Young

So that I'm not missing from action too long between posts, here's another one of my sample cards made with Forever Young stamp set.

Stamp:  Forever Young
Ink:  Pool Party
Papers:  Pool Party, Whisper White, Island Indigo
Accessories:  Beautiful Wings Embosslits, Little Leaves Sizzlet, Lace Ribbon Border punch (new), Big Shot, pearls

I'm still waiting for UPS man to deliver my October 1st order, it seems he's missing in action too!  Fingers crossed he'll be here soon, looks like I've drawn the short straw as I placed my order shortly after the floodgates opened.  I've been in touch with HO and there's been a glitch which unfortunately happens to be with my parcel!  Boo hoo!  Hope they sort it out soon.

A Bonza Day!

I had such a lovely day yesterday.  It was my birthday and I'm not one to make a fanfare of it.  When you hit a certain age,  one tends not to herald the fact  that with each passing year it brings us closer to our final resting place!   A thought too terrifying even to contemplate!

The day started with a call from my daughter and hearing my grandson singing "happy birthday" on the phone.  DH brought me breakfast in bed, fresh percolated proper coffee with croissants while I opened my cards and pressies.

I had a lazy morning, and did venture into my craft room to do some commissioned work even though I'd promised myself some time off.   Everything had been designed and it wasn't too taxing making gift labels, just alot of it to assemble!     I stopped when DH took me out to lunch and when we got home this is what I found in the porch - some beautiful calla lillies

accompanied by this beautiful card.

I'm afraid I've been a bad blogger.  My family's visit from down under is imminent and juggling SU work, commissioned work and dealing with running the home and getting it habitable for our visitors has taken up alot of my time.  So instead of showing you my work, here's some of the beautiful hand made creations of others which I received on my birthday.

and I've saved the best till last .... a truly special card made by the talented Val who is a true perfectionist.

Not just a card - but it was a gift in itself as it came in this beautiful box.

Late afternoon some friends dropped by bearing gifts and I just had to share this beauty because I've never seen one before in all my  (**)years!

A handblown night light ornament for a tea light.

Finally to round off the day, DH whisked me off to the cinema to see a teehee movie  "Johnny English Reborn" in VIP seats which he had booked for the evening!

I felt thoroughly spoilt and am so thankful to have such wonderful friends and family.  Thank you everyone.  You all mean so much to me and I feel truly blessed.

Delicate Doilies #2, Happiest Birthday Wishes

Introducing Lucky Limeade, one of the new In Colors.  Also featured is Island Indigo, the deep blue - perhaps it's got a hint of purple to give it that hue.  I thought Indigo suggests purples - but I'm no colour expert.

Can you spot my bespoke ribbon?  I made a tiny ribbon out of a strip of scrap Flirtatious fabric, waste not want not as the saying goes!

The sentiment is from one of the Hostess sets which you can use your Hostess Pounds to purchase for a mere H£20.00 for the wood mount or H£16.00 for the clear mount.  This set is valued at £32.95/£26.95 repectively so that's quite a saving!    You cannot purchase the sets on pages 8-12 except with Hostess Pounds earned through holding your own workshop or receiving Hostess Benefits through being part of a Technique Club or Virtual hostess club.

Delicate Doilies, Array of Sunshine

I love using the square lattice embossing folder to add texture to the background.  I first stamped the images from Delicate Doilies which you can find on page 69 of the new catalogue, (122590 in wood mount @ £20.95 and in clear mount - 122592 @ 16.95 and consists of 4 rubber stamp images). I then popped my stamped images  in the embossing folder and ran it through the Big Shot.

The card base is Wisteria Wonder.  This is one of the new "In Colors"  and is gorgeous in real life.  It coordinates beautifully with Pink Pirouette and another In Colour featured here is Lucky Limeade for the stamped leaves.   We also have a new bigger size punch called Ribbon Lace Border and I've punched a Lace Border to overlay on top of the dry embossed Delicate Doiley images in lieu of using ribbon.

I used the rock n roll technique on the main flowers from "Array of Sunshine", which is a Hostess set you can purchase with your Hostess Pounds at a specially reduced Hostess price.  These specially priced sets are exclusive to Hostesses only, so if you want to qualify, you'll need to book a workshop.
I stamped the flower 3 times without re-inking  the stamp to get a "graduated" look  as I wanted a softer looking centre.   I added a faux pearl to the centre last, adhering each layer with dimensionals.

A little late posting today, I guess better late than never!  I  hope you're having a restful Sunday.
