Hi everyone - MDS Monday!  A hybrid project today - what does that entail?  It means you design a project in My Digital Studio, print it and then add extra layers or embellishments.

The picture above shows a  5-1/2" x 4-1/4" landscape card which is one of the greeting card Designer Templates in MDS.

I then set about changing the background DSP, wording etc and the picture below shows what it looked like when I'd finished.

I then saved it as a jpeg file and saved another copy in my photo program and printed  four to an A4 sheet on ordinary Whisper White card stock.

These were then trimmed to size and adhered to a Bermuda Bay card base and I punched little flowers with the itty bitty punch trio and added some pearls to complete the card.  I designed these as "thank you" cards to all the ladies (allocated to my area) who had taken part in the Prize Draw at the show in Sandown early in September 2013.  This is where MDS came into its own.  I designed once, had as many copies as I needed printed, then it was just a question of gluing and sticking - super quick and very satisfying!

You can see the flower layer here better.  So, do you think you may be tempted to give it a try?

Wonderful Wreath

Eek, you're probably thinking - this early for christmas fayre?  Well week 4's countdown to christmas (my videos 12 week countdown were scheduled so that they stopped on the 18th, a week before actual christmas day ) so  now is the time to be gathering ideas, stocking up on materials etc to make some cards.  Die-hard crafters usually start back in July!   This was one of the cards I created for an Inspiration Station earlier this month.

So here's something different you can do with this stamp.  First I cut out the wreath as well as cutting out the centre section to reveal the red layer below.   I used a craft knife and followed the contour of three of the leaves in the wreath to create slots in the stamped image.    I stamped the smallest snowflake from Festive Flurry and cut out the centre star shape and inserted them in the slots as "decoration".  A layer of Silver glimmer card stock was added and a label frame was cut so that the Real Red layer could be exposed and the wreath was popped up on dimensionals.

The bottom section of the card was left a bit longer so I could punch a scallop edge border integral to the card.    Here are the items I used - cardstock was Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White and Silver glimmer paper.  Inks - Smoky Slate, Cherry Cobbler.

VIDEO - #12 WEDNESDAY'S WORKSHOP WOW Countdown to Christmas Wk 4 - Thinlits Bootiful Occasions Label Extended Card

This week's Wednesday's Workshop Wow is in 2 parts.  Make sure you watch both.  The first part is on the dies and basic construction on an extended swing card, and the second concentrates on the finishing touches!

Part 1

Part 2

Thanks for watching.  Contact me should you wish to make a purchase.

P.S.  If you are mass producing these swing cards, then I'd do the basic version without the card extension (cheaper to post) and just make a handful of the extended version for your nearest and dearest which you would more likely hand deliver.

Sneak Peek - Regarding Dahlias

Happy Sunday!  Today's share is a sneak peek - a rather ambitious project which started off as a card, then morphed into an album of sorts, but I didn't have any photos in hand so it became a long, long card!  I left two of the circles blank so that I could add a photo at a later stage.

I used Eastern Elegance DSP and my colour combo was Smoky Slate, Crushed Curry and Coastal Cabana. Stamp Set used was Regarding Dahlias and Beautifully Baroque TIEF using Neutrals Core'dinations card stock which I sanded.  One side of the card is predominantly Smoky Slate and Crushed Curry, but if you view it from the other side, it's Coastal Cabana and Smoky Slate.

As I haven't decided which occasion this card is best suited for, I decided to leave off the sentiments for the time being.  I'll probably end up tweaking it again and add a belly band for a closure!

Watch out for more sneak peeks - this is just one way to use this new product.  Can you hazard a guess as to what it is?

Regarding Dahlias #3

I'm back with more Regarding Dahlias.  This time I used a strip of Venetian Romance DSP to coordinate with my Crisp Cantaloupe card base and stamped the dahlia image with versamark and clear embossed it. The top layer was also stamped and then got the heat & stick with dazzling diamonds treatment.

Here's the inside.  Also used was the elegant butterfly punch, the bitty butterfly punch and some rhinestones.
