Happy Congratulations

It's Friday, are you going off in your caravan for the weekend?  This features one of the new stamp sets from the Spring./Summer catalogue and just shows you a different way of using it other than for a card.  I cannot take credit for the caravan design - I purchased the talented Erica Cerwin's tutorial to make this and put my own take on it.

Chinese New Year!

Did you know that today is Chinese New Year?  I am 3rd Generation Australian Chinese, and although I'm married to an Englishman, those Chinese roots from my ethnic origin are still with me albeit very westernised!

Of course, Stampin' Up! doesn't have a sentiment to cover Chinese New Year, so I printed one off the internet - Kung Hei Fatt Choi translated means "Happy New Year" well, literally translated it means "wishing you much prosperity and luck".

The stamp set is new in the Spring/Summer 2014 catalogue called Happy Congratulations. I scored some scrap Coastal Cabana cardstock every 1/8" then punched it out with the Artisan Label punch to create the Chinese Lanterns.  The top and bottom of the lanterns have been punched and trimmed with the same punch in brushed gold card stock.

Our fabulous new gold sequin trim was just perfect to "hang" the lanterns from.  Red is an auspicious colour for the Chinese, so my card base had to be Real Red.  The Basic Black mat was stamped in Whisper White Craft Ink with our new Hardwood background stamp. The inks I used are Black Stazon, Real Red, and Gold Metallic Encore ink.

This Chinese New Year is the Year of the Horse.   I don't have a horsey stamp, so the lanterns will have to do, but I'm pleased with the final result.   What do you think?

VIDEO - #26 A new Tool! and a Sale-a-bration Tour

In yesterday's excitement with Sale-a-bration and the new Spring/Summer catalogue going live, I forgot to mention that we have a new tool!   Here are the details!
Texture Boutique Embossing Machine
Texture Boutique Embossing Machine132657

The Texture Boutique Embossing Machine works with Textured Impressions Embossing Folders to transform ordinary cardstock, paper, metallic foil, or vellum into an embossed, textured masterpiece.

This machine embosses only; it does not die cut. Comes with 1 pair of Standard Embossing Pads and 1 Mylar Shim.

Now on to Wednesday's Workshop Wow taking a tour through the Sale-a-bration catalogue.  Pictured below is one of the items called "Good as Gold" card kit which could be yours for a £45 spend before shipping and handling. Can you spot the embossed foil on some of the cards here?

Enjoy the tour!  If you haven't got a demonstrator, I'd love to be yours.  You can shop online with me by clicking the Shop Online button,  or if you're local to me (I am based in Fleet, Hampshire) and would like to host a party, or  join my team, do get in touch  elaine.harding@googlemail.com .  Did you notice the blooper I made? There are 13 items to choose from,  not 11 as I forgot that there are 2 more as free MDS uploads, which, I hasten to add, I did cover in the video!

Pop back for more inspiration - I have loads of new projects to share in the coming weeks!

Monster Hugs Finishes Today

The Whole lot of Love Promotion on Valentine Products finishes today, that is while stocks last.

Sweet Sayings Cards and Envelopes  Sweetheart Treat Bags

I'll be sad to see these go, as they are really cute.

Yesterday I had an Open House Preview Event for  Sale-a-bration and the new Spring/Summer catalogue which launches tomorrow.    I used Monster Hugs  for their Make N' Take and designed a little box for the treats to go in as the monster's arms were long enough to wrap round them. They had a choice of a boy or girl one. I popped some sugared jelly hearts, a marshmallow heart and a chocolate heart in a cello bag, tied it with linen thread ready for them to just add the coordinating ribbon.

They used one of the sentiment stamps from one of the Sale-a-bration giveaways called You're Lovely.  The heart was die cut using the Hearts a Flutter framelits.

Hope you like it!

Rock N' Roll with Best of Flowers & Happy Day

Here are the other cards we did at Card Club using the Rock N' Roll technique.  The colour combo here was Blushing Bride and Calypso Coral.  The leaves were cut using the 1-3/4" circle punch.  I'm show casing the Best of Flowers set as they will no longer be available by the end of March and the same applies to all the other "Best of " sets.

We also made an  easel card in Blushing Bride and Pear Pizazz and Early Espresso using the Happy Day stamp set.

Finally we made a box using the envelop punch board to put all the cards in, but I forgot to take a picture.

I've scheduled this post because today is my pre-view event for Sale-a-bration and the new Spring/Summer catty so do pop back in the coming weeks to see the new products!

Rock n' Roll

This is an old favourite - the Rock n' Roll technique, but new to my card club ladies.  You need two ink pads, one light and the other darker.  Stamp in the light colour first, then ink only the edges of the lighter stamped image  by tipping and rolling just the edges of the image on the stamp in the darker ink to create this effect - hence the technique name "rock n' roll".

Card stock is Blushing Bride, inks used Sahara Sand and Perfect Plum.

Flower Shop

Perfect pansies in every possible style. A beautiful addition to any project. The Flower Show Stamp Set coordinates with the Pansy Punch. Wood-mount.

Flowering Flourishes

Intricately designed flourishes provide just the right accent for cards and scrapbook pages. This gorgeous, three-piece set is perfect for weddings, bridal showers--or any occasion at all! To create a look that's all your own, ink images with Stampin' Write Markers. Wood-mount.

The sets I used were wood mount, but they are also available in clear mount.

Pop back on Sunday to see more.

Sunday Share with Sneak Peeks

For my Sunday Share here are some cards I made with one of the Sale-a-bration Free product which could be yours with each £45 spend.  The Kit comprises 8 cards with pre-cut embellishments, gold elasticated thread and bakers twine, crumb cake envelops and gold foil envelop liners.

This is the basic card following the design instructions on the kit, or rather the picture on the kit.

Typically of me, I didn't follow their designs.  I cut up one of the non-English tags and used it as a tag.

As we're a European market, the sentiments also came in French and German, of course!  I cut up the gold foil envelop liner, the part that isn't visible, and  dry embossed it then used it as an additional layer here. With the tiny bit of leftover  gold foil, I used the itty bitty butterfly punch to punch out a gold foil butterfly and also one in Basic Black.  I cut the Basic Black butterfly in half and glued it to the underside of the gold butterfly's wings for some definition.  The dotty embossing folder also happens to be part of the Sale-a-bration items you could earn for free.

I used the Delicate Doilies Sizzlets for this one and the Lots of Thanks stamp set.  I just used the back of one of the labels and stamped "thank you" on it.  The pearls have been coloured with sharpie pens to compliment the Calypso Coral dots.

That's all for today.   There are four more cards which I have designed, but I'm saving them for my Summer/Spring/SAB preview event next Sunday.  If you're local to Fleet, Hampshire and would like to attend, contact me - elaine.harding@googlemail.com and I will send you the details.

Sweet Sayings

Continuing the theme with the Sweet Sayings card kit.  Can you spy a sneak peek here?  I've stamped and individually cut out the elements from stamps in the Love you more set, punched out the heart from Flowerful Heart which makes it smaller than its original size and punched a hole through the heart with the cropadile (now retired).

You like?  Pop back soon to see what else I've done with this set.

VIDEO #24 Box it up - Envelop Liner Framelits

Here's an alternative way to use your Envelop Liner Framelits.  Yes, believe it or not, these boxes have been made using the smallest of the envelop liner framelit.

Thanks for visiting.

Here is a simple MDS layout of a visit to Mulka's Cave in Australia.

I used "Love This" DSP kit as the paper resembled Aborigine type paintings for my background and dropped the photos in and matted them.

The banner is from Embellishments "All Time Fave", Vintage trinkers, and Designer Kits Finest Simplicity which I used as journalling boxes.

The arrow is from the Designer Kits - Hello There.

In case you're interested, Mulka's Cave is near Wave Rock. Legend has it that Mulka was the illegal son of an Aborigine woman who fell in love with a man with whom marriage was forbidden according to their law. As a  consequence of the forbidden union and breaking the rules, it is believed her child had been cursed and he was born severely cross-eyed.  As Mulka grew up, his affliction prevented him from throwing a spear accurately and he could not hunt like his peer group.  He ran away, sheltered in the cave.  Fruits and berries alone couldn't sustain him, so he began kidnapping babies from the village and consumed them.  His mother sought him out and chastised him, but he turned on her and murdered her.  The Aboriginal people from the area were outraged and tracked him down and speared him to death. They  left him to the ants as a grim warning to other law breakers as he did not deserve a proper ritual burial.

It's really eerie there, and if you look at this particular spot in the cave, legend has it that you can see Mulka's image on the cave roof through a camera lens.

Hi everyone, for my Sunday share, here are some quick and easy cards using the Sweet Sayings Card Kit. Inside the pack there are three coloured envelopes.  The card itself carries colour combo in  Crisp Cantaloupe, Pool Party and Real Red colours so I've mixed and matched the stamps to coordinate with the envelops.

This first one in Crisp Cantaloupe uses the Love you More stamp set.

The Real Red one uses the Flowerful Heart and also the Love you More stamp set.

This Pool Party ( I think it's Pool Party) uses the Love you More stamp set.  Do you have a favourite?  Mine is the Pool Party one.

Hope you like it!
