Mothering Sunday

Did you remember to put your clock forward an hour for today?  It'll fool us in thinking that perhaps we had a lay-in this morning (wink).

Having pipped myself at the post last Sunday with a bonus video on making a Mother's Day card, I had to make another to post for today!  Didn't plan that too well did I?

I initially made a collage, but it didn't show the card off too well.  The inside says happy mother's day, but you wouldn't have a clue as to the occasion on the outside.

The stamp set I used is "My Mother" from the Spring/Summer catty.    Wishing all you mothers out there a very Happy Mother's Day with your loved ones.

I am having a lazy day today, and hubby is doing a Sunday roast so I'm looking forward to it.

Petal Parade meets Banner Blast

I don't know how I missed publishing this.  Blast from the past, I made this way back at the end of January for my pre-launch Sale-a-bration and Spring/Summer catty event and just plain forgot to post it!

This one uses the Kaleidoscope papers.  The original design was by Monica Gale and I made a few for my Inspiration Station last October using the Festive Flurry dies.  Not sure if I posted those either.

This one has been scaled down to fit into an envelop so you can post it.  I thought I'd better squeeze this in before 31st March when Sale-a-bration ends.  Just only 4 days left!  Have you got any last minute orders you'd like to place before we bid farewell to Sale-a-bration 2014?

VIDEO #34 - You're Lovely Deco Frame Card

As promised, here's a video for making a card with the clear block watercolour stamping technique featured last Wednesday.  Enjoy.

The stamp set I used is called "You're Lovely" and is a Sale-a-bration one, free with each £45 purchase. Only 5 more days to get those freebies before Sale-a-bration 2014 ends.  It's not too late to take advantage of this offer.  Let me know if you'd like to make a purchase!  Pop over to my online store, it's in the top right corner side bar.

Fringing, fringing, more fringing!

Oh my, the start of another week - it's scary how fast time is passing by!   This card was a bit of a departure from the usual stamped one.

Bermuda Bay is such a rich, vibrant colour - I love it!  Having used pastel In Colors of late, it's refreshing to make something out of the Brights Collection!

I cut strips of Bermuda Bay and Melon Mambo cardstock and broke up the fibres with a bone folder before attacking it with the fringing scissors, leaving approximately 3/8" uncut band at the base.   I then ran a piece of sticky strip along the uncut band, removed the sticky strip and used a non-stick pair of scissors to cut in between the fringe at 1/4" intervals (this makes it easier to manipulate the strip into a circle shape).   I punched out a 1-3/8" circle to use as a base and adhered fringed cardstock using the circle as a guide and repeated with the Melon Mambo middle layer, followed by another Bermuda Bay layer.

For the flower centre I used the pansy flower punch, petite petal and itty bitty punches.  The tags were cut from the Banners Framelits dies.  I used Happy Watercolor stamp set for my label and kept it clean and simple.

Hope you like it.

Extra! Extra! - See Mother's Day Bonus Video

Good day everyone! It's Mothering Sunday next Sunday, and I still haven't addressed doing a Mother's Day card as my Mum lives in Australia, my birthplace and they don't celebrate it until the second Sunday in  May! I've scheduled a bonus video to rectify this for  UK residents today and just hope that my Mum doesn't espy it in the meantime!

You'll notice my new blog heading - so yes it's still me!  All designed using My Digital Studio (MDS).  I'm no techy, so if I can do it, anyone can!  Have you tried Digital scrapbooking? There's such a wide variety of stamp brush sets current as well as retired, embellishments and papers which are included in the initial MDS package which you can purchase through my online store. Every Tuesday, new downloads are available too.  I digress - enjoy the video!

I hope this inspires you to make one, if you haven't done so yet.

Enjoy your weekend.  Happy stamping!

Another Great Year

The sunshine has brightened my mood as you can see!  So it's out with the Brights palette using Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie.  Have you spotted this stamp set from the Spring/Summer catty? I made this for the lovely Catherine who celebrated her birthday earlier this week so I can safely post it now!

The "Happy Birthday To You" was stamped in Melon Mambo on Very Vanilla cardstock first.  I also white embossed it on Melon Mambo cardstock, hand cut the banner portions then adhered it to the corresponding image on the card front base.   I masked then stamped the Simple Stems floral images in Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive.

To get the two-toned effect on the large flower, I stamped the large flower from Simple Stems twice in Melon Mambo, then  once in Pumpkin Pie, fussy cut, then layered and glued it.

I love the trio of candles with its "wish big" banner so I had to include it too.  I punched it out with the large oval punch and offset and trimmed off the excess to the top middle right of the inside front of card base.

Hope you like it!  Thanks for stopping by....a bientot

New Look Header

Yes, it's still me!    I wanted a fresher, simpler look and it seems eons ago since I actually opened up MDS (My Digital Studio) and played with it.

Like the seasons, I like to ring the changes and it also sets me a challenge to work with the digital software at my fingertips.  Who would've thought this ole soul is trying to keep up with the times all in the name of progress!   Not quite clever enough to do the buttons in my side bar yet.  If only there were enough hours in the day!

Hope you like it!

VIDEO #33 - Clear Block Stamping

Today's video is a technique I taught to my club ladies this month using re-inkers and an aqua painter to apply paint to the clear block then stamp with it.

If you haven't tried this technique before, I hope this has inspired you to give it a go.  You can speed up the drying process with the aid of a heat tool.  Make sure the paper is completely dry before you stamp on it.

An Eggstra Spectacular!

Hi everyone!  What a difference a few days of sunshine makes.  It certainly feels like spring now doesn't it?

I also fancied a change from Sale-a-bration stamp sets.  Only 2 weeks left to get those freebies for each £45 spend.  Have you turned your thoughts to Easter yet?  Here's a card inspired by Dawn Griffiths but I've re-jigged the size to suit UK paper.

My card base is in Daffodil Delight cut 5-3/4" x 4".  The Whisper White was cut 5-1/2" x width of our A4 size, then scored with long side on top at 3-3/4" and 6-1/4".   I folded the Whisper White layer in a " Z " fold and punched a semi-circle with the 2-1/2" circle punch, then embossed the front with the Decorative Dots TIEF (free with SAB),

The stamp sets I used are both from the Spring/Summer catalogue Blessed Easter (wood mount), and Eggstra Spectacular (wood mount). The images were stamped in Black Stazon as the ink will not run.  I used an aqua painter to colour in the tulips and the basket of easter eggs and the fringing scissors to make the decorative edges.  After the initial cut with the fringe scissors, I cut a second time in between the first cuts to make a finer fringe.  I used the Ovals Framelits Collection to cut my ovals and used the same fringe treatment.

To finish the card, I punched three itty bitty flowers and put faux pearls for the flower centres.

It's All Gold!

This week's video featured the Fancy Foil Designer Vellums with the striped and bold polka dots foiled patterns.  Here's the one with the hearts.  I also used the Large Scallop Edgelits for a decorative edge which overlaps the gold striped washi tape. It compliments it perfectly.

I used gold foil to punch gold foil hearts to sandwich the gold bakers twine for a neater finish.  I cut an aperture through both the vellum and Very Vanilla layers with the Chalk Talk Framelists so that you could see the perfect couple image on the inside layer of the card.

A line of sequins were adhered with glue dots to "anchor" the couple.

Hope you like it.

Thanks for visiting.

It's Silver!

You've seen the gold vellum, here it is in silver.  Don't you think this will make a lovely silver wedding anniversary card?    It doesn't show up very well in this photo, but in fact that is silver baker's twine.

This is the perfect card for my hubby who has sported a moustache for all the time I've known him.  If he ever shaved it off, I don't think I'd recognise him!

The stamp set is called Perfect Couple.  I embossed it in silver and cut out the images using the large oval punch and 1-3/4" circle punch.

VIDEO #32 - Fancy Gold Foil Designer Vellum Treat Holder

I found these delightful chocolate treats with a wooden spoon embedded in it for making hot chocolate with. They came in different flavours, and as I was making the gift packaging, the smell of dark mint chocolate kept wafting to my nostrils making my mouth water!

In our fast paced materialistic world, sometimes it's good to take a step back  and think of the real meaning of gift giving. It's not the size or monetary value of the gift, but the thought behind it and the care you've taken to pretty it up before presenting it which is equally important.  Don't you think this looks the business?  I love this Fancy Foil Vellum.

So on to the video.

A Gift from my Hostess

Imagine my surprise when my lovely Hostess gave me a gift!  It's normally the other way round.  The lovely Leigh had been using the circles die to make these lovely felt brooches.

She'd made them in all different colours.  Her workmanship is beautiful, hand stitched together, not a drop of hot glue in sight!  Aren't I a lucky girl.   I love it!  Looks like a CASE is on the cards!

Thank you Leigh!

Sunday Share

A cornucopia of colours!  This is from the Watercolour Wonder DSP collection!  It makes a wonderful backdrop for the new Hexagon Hive thinlits die which I've cut out of Whisper White cardstock.

The butterflies are from Papillon Potpourri, punched out with the bitty butterfly punch and the plain butterfly had three rhinestones adhered for its "body".  The Starburst Sayings saw its first ink - this is also a set that is available in a bundle which will included the Starburst Framelits dies so watch out for them.

Here's the inside, with more images from this stamp set.  I went to town with the glitz and glammer bit and used quite a few rhinestones to jazz it up!  Hope you like it.

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your weekend!

VIDEO #31 - Banner Blast Tag Topper Treat holders

It was a very sunny day when I filmed this video, so please excuse the shadows cast by the sun.  I had to keep shifting my table to try and minimise the shadow and still catch the light and it drove me up the wall!  So it was then that I decided that proper studio lighting was the way to go!

This is the cardstock from the Gold Card  Kit.  It's one of the Sale-a-bration free  items you can choose with a purchase of £45.00 excluding shipping. You can compare the difference between the angled tag topper and the scallop tag topper.  Enjoy!

Petal Parade

Goodness me, March already?  Where has January and February gone?  It's scary how quickly time passes by.

Do you have a favourite Sale-a-bration stamp set?  When I first set eyes on Petal Parade, it didn't "Wow" me at first.  The more I use it, however, the more it has grown on me.

I cased (copy and share everything - but etiquette is to credit the person who you copied it from) this from a swap I had at one of the Inspiring Inkin' team meetings - I don't remember who it was, but thank you for sharing.  If you know who it is, let me know so I can give them credit.  It's got a modern twist to it which I love, and made my own background paper by stamping all the images in versamark.

This is short and sweet.  Have a lovely weekend.
