Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there.

So often, we take our men folk for granted and it seems fitting that there is a day in our calendar to take a moment to honour them.

Both hubby and I lost our Dads many years ago, but hubby is a Dad himself, and although he's my husband and not my Dad, it's still nice to make the day special to say "thank you" for all that he does everyday throughout the year.

This Father's Day is  tinged with sadness as I am thinking of one of my friends who lost her Dad just last week and today will be especially difficult for her and her family.  Not a year goes by without either hubby or me recalling happy memories of days gone by with our Dads, they won't ever be forgotten.

Those who know my hubby,  know that he loves his field archery - and they have these 3D targets in the field course so this stamp set "Animal Outing" was perfect.  Don't get me wrong, he would never ever shoot at something that is living!  He abhors the taking of a life and especially endangered species!

The card base is thick Very Vanilla card stock and I die cut the front piece with the Tropical Thinlits dies.  I stamped the rhino in Tuxedo Black Memento ink directly on to Gray Granite card stock and the giraffe on Very Vanilla standard card stock.  The giraffe was coloured in with Stampin' Blends and both figures were die cut with the Animal Friends Framelits.

I stuck a "wibble wobble" thing-a-majig on  the back of the rhino - so it wobbles!  Not just for kids - you're never too old for an interactive card!

The sentiment is from Thoughtful Banners.

When I opened the card to work on the inside, I discovered I'd stamped something on the left hand side of the card, so rather than discard it, I cut a strip of DSP from the Tropical Escape DSP stack, and also die cut a kangaroo from the Animal Expedition DSP - yes! the dies fit the animals and you can cut them out!  Bonus!

For the sentiment I used one from Rooted in Nature "Words are never enough to thank you for all you do".

So wherever you are, enjoy your day with your men folk.
