Magnolia Lane DSP Floating Technique

Happy Sunday, peeps!

The "floating" technique has been the new big thing recently - so of course I incorporated it into   my Team Training Day Display projects in June.   There weren't any small enough images in the stamp set so I fussy cut these smaller blooms from 1 sheet of DSP.

This technique was created by a lady whose husband is a scientist and he actually developed the concept of the Glad Press & Seal wrap.  It's not readily available in the UK, and I purchased a roll of this through Amazon and it just lasts and lasts.  I've had the same roll for 5 years now!  The concept of this technique is to lay all your images out on a piece of card stock, place the Press & Seal over all the pieces and the Press & Seal makes it stick together in one piece.  You trim off the excess, place it in your die cutting machine, die cut it with your desired die shape, apply dimensionals over all the pieces on the reverse, adhere it to your card base before removing the Press & Seal layer and you get this "floating" effect of all the die cuts on your card.

Then you can use the negative, and make a second card with it.

Enjoy your Sunday - thanks for popping by!

Sailing Home Bundle - Side Step Card Tutorial

I made a side step card sample in my  New Catalogue Highlights post  using the Sailing Home bundle in Pretty Peacock  (one of the new 2019-2021 In Colors).   You can see the original post HERE.

I had  a special request from Sharie to do a video tutorial so here it is Sharie - just for you.

It's easier than it looks - just one cut, and the rest is scoring and folding.  This has been such a popular fold and it was all the rage at one time.  I thought this fold lends itself  to showing off this stamp set so I revisited it.

Verdant Garden - Arrow Fold

This "Arrow" card is surprisingly easy - although it looks complicated.   t was originally created by the talented Sam of Mixed Up Craft.  This was one of the designs I used for the Display for my team meeting earlier in the month using the Magnolia Suite, and I've recreated it here using the Add On items from Verdant Garden.  I could so easily have stepped it up and thrown all sorts of different dies and embellishments in the mix, but decided to keep it simple with just the cardstock and stamp set.

Home Decor Piece with Good Morning Magnolia

Good day everyone!   I can't believe how fast the time is flying by - half way through the year and it only seemed like yesterday when we were heralding in the New Year for 2019!!!

Last weekend was Father's Day .....

...and I was pleased that hubby didn't go to Archery on the Sunday like he usually does, and chose to spend it with me.  We went back to RHS Wisley to see the newly opened refurbishment and it is stunning.

They had an exhibition of sculptures - alot of them by Henry Moore - this is called "Sheep Piece" circa 1971-1972 which is on loan from the Henry Moore foundation.  I hope you had a lovely day too last Sunday.  I digress so back to a bit of crafting.

This is another project I made for the Display at Team Training in June - something for the home.  All the cards I make usually get sent away for other people to enjoy, and I never see them again.  This way all the toil and love that goes into a piece gets preserved and I get to keep it for a while at least until the frame is recycled and another project replaces it in due course.

I had been waiting for the embossing folders to arrive - they had been on back order for some time, so when they arrived 2 days before the meeting, I set to and created this to add to the projects I'd already done!

The new 3D embossing folders are thinner than the old dynamic ones we used to have.  If you have the special embossing mats from last year's catalogue, the new embossing folders will work with just the basic platform, the grey rubber mat, new 3D folder with cardstock inside embossing folder, acrylic plate, and that produces a nice deep impression - the grey rubber mat does slip a little, but as an interim measure it will do the job nicely until the proper one is available for sale.
